FBI Probes Former Counterterror Chief Joe Kent Over Alleged Leak
The FBI has launched an investigation into Joe Kent, former top counter-terrorism official in the administration of President Donald Trump, for leaking classified information to the press. Mr. Kent had resigned this week as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, saying he could no longer support the war in Iran "in good conscience" and that Iran was no threat to the US. The White House, while denying his claims, saying they had "compelling evidence" of an Iranian attack, has criticized Mr. Kent for bypassing the chain of command in his assertions, according to former officials in the administration. Mr. Kent had alleged in his resignation letter and in subsequent interviews that the war was being driven by Israel, which was criticized as antisemitic by the Anti-Defamation League, while President Trump called Mr. Kent "is weak on security" and said it was "good that he is out.
